Sharks' Thornton and Heatley celebrate goal against Blackhawks in Chicago

Legend: Team – Record – Position Change (Last Week)

1. San Jose Sharks – 27-8-7 (4) +3  Winners of 8 straight have propelled the Sharks to the top of the THG Power Rankings. Best team in the league deserves the best.
2. Chicago Blackhawks – 28-10-3 (2) N/C The Hawks will not go away this year and look really strong. Don’t expect a drop out of the top five much at all.
3. New Jersey Devils – 29-10-1 (1) -3 Mr. Brodeur is the best in the game, and his Devils are atop the East. Need we say more?
4. Colorado Avalanche – 24-13-6 (12) +8 The Avalanche have made strides this season and are showing that not only was it a hot start to keep them where they are.
5. Nashville Predators– 25-14-3 (6) +1 The Preds have been coming on strong, more so as of late.  Dark horse in the West? Absolutely.

Goalie Starters 01/03/2010

01/03/2010
Colorado Avalanche v Ottawa Senators

Please remember to keep refreshing this page or follow me on Twitter for the fastest updates. Here are your expected starting goalies for tonight:

  • No lineup changes for the Senators, implying Pascal Leclaire gets the nod in goal writes the Official Twitter Page of the Ottawa Senators.
  • Seth Rorabaugh’s Empty Netters puts Tomas Vokoun in nets.  Still no confirmation on the Pittsburgh goalie as this game is the second of back-to-back contests.
  • Similar story in Chicago as both the Blackhawks and the Ducks played last night.  If past history is any indicator it will be Antti Niemi against Jean-Sebastien Giguere, but I will confirmed later with links hopefully.
  • Should have the starters for the Buffalo vs. Montreal as well as the Flyers goalie up shortly.

December Fantasy 3 Stars

01/02/2010
Montreal Canadiens v New York Islanders

In this section, I break down the top three fantasy hockey performers for the month and cite why I chose them in particular. In addition, I will track the amount of times the players have received this honor and tally them at the end of the season. For the sake of clarity, I will be using Yahoo! standard categories (Forwards – G,A,+/-, PP, PIM, SOG; Goalies – W, GAA, SV%, SHO) which also excludes player salaries.

THIRD STAR: Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks (0-0-1) –  The 21-year-old right wing turned in an impressive and dominating month, finishing with 19 points, eight of which were goals.  The Buffalo, New York native fired a whopping 57 shots on goal over the month, tied with Ovechkin, an equally impressive feat.  His six powerplay points helped his owners as did a plus seven rating over that span.  Not know for his physical play, 20 cent even contributed four penalty minutes.  Throughout the year the former first overall stabilized his efforts becoming much more of a consistent scoring threat.  He will try to continue his scoring prowess when he represents Team USA in the Olympics this February.

Daily Fantasy 3 Stars 12/31/2009

01/02/2010
Chicago Blackhawks v Dallas Stars

In this section, I break down the top three fantasy hockey performers every night and cite why I chose them in particular. In addition, I will track the amount of times the players have received this honor and tally them at the end of the season. For the sake of clarity, I will be using Yahoo! standard categories (Forwards – G,A,+/-, PP, PIM, SOG; Goalies – W, GAA, SV%, SHO) and thus exclude player’s salaries.

I forgot to post these last night, so here we go.  Big night in hockey with 22 teams and 11 games.  Here are our standout fantasy stars for the evening:

THIRD STAR:  Andrei Markov, Montreal Canadiens (0-0-1) –  Markov continues to put up points following a nasty injury.  The 31-year-old defenseman added three assists in the Habs win over Florida.  Two of his assists came on the powerplay, while he added two penalty minutes, two shots and a modest plus one.  In eight games, Markov produced an impressive 11 points and he currently sports a seven-game point scoring streak.  Try to acquire this d-man as there is no one hotter on the blue line at the moment.
