  • Dan Tencer writes Nikolai Khabibulin will return to the Oilers lineup.
  • Martin Brodeur projects for the Devils. big suprise there.
  • On the same note, Jonas Hiller likely will start against the Devils.  The Ducks have back-to-back games coming up this weekend one of which Jean-Sebastien Giguere should start.  At least that is my interpretation to this feature.

  • Pretty sure Bishop was mistaken, Lundqvist will be in net.  Probably mixed up the new mask with Valiquette’s.  Andrew Gross confirmed Lundqvist here.

  • Tim Thomas starts according to John Bishop’s live chat, Bruins beat reporter.  Bishop also notes he will be facing Steve Valiquette.   Working on confirming Valiquette in net, keep Lundqvist in for now as there is no confirmation from the Rangers beat.
  • The preview on the Canucks official site says Andrew Raycroft COULD start against Peter Budaj.  I doubt we will see Budaj, as Adrian Dater previously confirmed Anderson in tonight.

  • Expect Evgeny Nabokov to start against the Hurricanes since Thomas Greiss started only a week ago and the Sharks are not coming off back-to-back games.
  • Everything I’ve read points to Tim Thomas starting against the Rangers.  Will confirm at a later point with a link.

  • Carolina Hurricanes coach Paul Maurice started Michael Leighton instead of Cam Ward yesterday, so naturally Ward will be back in net tonight.  Chip Alexander of Canes Now covers Maurice’s reasoning behind the decision.
  • Andrew Gross of Rangers Rants assumes Henrik Lundqvist plays tonight.

Somehow my excerpt was deleted or not posted, thanks Steve (Rangersfan527@yahoo.com) for the tip.  Josh Harding is listed day-to-day here, leaving the only option rookie Anton Khudobin who Michael Russo mentions in the post will probably backup Backstrom his entire stay.

  • Prior to Sunday night’s game, Brian Boucher did not start a NHL game in 5 months.  After his performance Sunday don’t expect him be stealing any games from Ray Emery.  This quote by John Stevens accurately summarizes his thoughts on Boucher’s effort.  “It just wasn’t very good.   • According to this John Glennon post here, Dan Ellis will be in net tonight against Washington.  I’ll keep you updated if there are any changes. 
  • David Pollack comments here that he still does not know who will be in net for the Sharks tonight. 
  • Martin Brodeur confirmed here.  
  • Steve Mason is projected here by Tom Reed.  Mathieu Garon will get a start within the next four games. 
  • Jonas Hiller is mentioned here, he is probable for tonight. 
  • This feature article here has Pascal Leclaire facing the Canadiens.  Carey Price is in net per Habs Inside/Out

  • According to Chris Vivlamore of the AJC, Johan Hedberg will be in net tonight.  He states this in a comment in this post here.
  • Semyon Varlamov will make the start in net tonight with Braden Holtby his backup.  Jose Theodore was held out of practice today due to a “sharp pain.”  Click here to read more on the subject.
  • Steve Zipay reports here that Henrik Lundqvist will start tonight here.  Although he claims nothing is official yet, I would call it a safe bet.

Here are the expected starters for tonight:

  • According to this Damien Cristodero post, Mike Smith will be back in net when the Lightning take on the Senators tonight.  Head coach Rick Tocchet emphasizes in this article that Smith is the Lightning’s number one goalie despite Antero Niittymaki making two straight appearances.
  • A recent entry in Tribune Icing claims Christobal Huet will play against the Predators tonight.  When interviewed, Joel Quenneville continues to emphasize that Huet is the starter in Chicago despite Antti Niemi making a recent home start.  Click here for the full story.
  • Nashville Predators should send out Pekka Rinne to face Chicago.  Read the entire article here.  John Glennon did write this post a few days ago, before both Rinne and  Dan Ellis were chased so more confirmation when I receive it.  Click here to view the entry.
  • Tarik El-Bashir believes that Jose Theodore will be in net tonight against the Sharks.  Although Bruce Boudreau refused to answer the question directly, El-Bashir seems pretty convinced.  Click here to read more.
