Vancouver Canucks v Dallas Stars

In this section, I break down the top three fantasy hockey performers every night and cite why I chose them in particular. In addition, I will track the amount of times the players have received this honor and tally them at the end of the season. For the sake of clarity, I will be using Yahoo! standard categories (Forwards – G,A,+/-, PP, PIM, SOG; Goalies – W, GAA, SV%, SHO)

THIRD STAR: Joe Pavelski, San Jose Sharks (0-0-1) – Little Joe makes his debut on this list with a valiant two assist effort.  His Sharks defeated the Canucks easily, carrying a three goal lead late into the third finishing them 4-2.  On the defensive end of the puck, Pavelski was not on the ice for a goal against rendering him a plus two on the evening. In addition, he also took five shots on net.  An above average contributor in three offensive categories, the 25-year-old now has 12 points in 13 games.

SECOND STAR: Jim Vandermeer, Phoenix Coyotes (0-1-0) – A surprise hero in tonight’s game Vandermeer scored the game-winner in overtime.  On top of putting one past the streaking Jean-Sebastien Giguere the journeyman defenseman finished the evening a plus two with four shots on net.  Now with four goals on the year, he has doubled his goal totals from the past two seasons.
