Chicago Blackhawks v Dallas Stars

In this section, I break down the top three fantasy hockey performers every night and cite why I chose them in particular. In addition, I will track the amount of times the players have received this honor and tally them at the end of the season. For the sake of clarity, I will be using Yahoo! standard categories (Forwards – G,A,+/-, PP, PIM, SOG; Goalies – W, GAA, SV%, SHO) and thus exclude player’s salaries.

I forgot to post these last night, so here we go.  Big night in hockey with 22 teams and 11 games.  Here are our standout fantasy stars for the evening:

THIRD STAR:  Andrei Markov, Montreal Canadiens (0-0-1) –  Markov continues to put up points following a nasty injury.  The 31-year-old defenseman added three assists in the Habs win over Florida.  Two of his assists came on the powerplay, while he added two penalty minutes, two shots and a modest plus one.  In eight games, Markov produced an impressive 11 points and he currently sports a seven-game point scoring streak.  Try to acquire this d-man as there is no one hotter on the blue line at the moment.

A pretty strong night for offenses League wide.  Aside from the goaltending clinic on the Island and the rare offensive dearth for Vancouver, every other team scored at least three goals.  Here are our standout fantasy stars for the evening:

THIRD STAR: Bobby Ryan, Anaheim Ducks (0-0-1) –  By all means Ryan simply dominated last night’s play.  Last year’s Calder runner-up scored two, one on the powerplay and one even strength, while assisting on one more leading the Ducks to a 4-2 victory.  The 22-year-old added three shots on net while finishing a plus two on the night.  Since uniting with Saku Koivu and Dan Sexton the results are impressive.  All three line-mates deserve a spot on your team if they are still available.
