Goalie Starters 10/21/2009

Here are the expected starters for tonight:

  • Ellis confirmed here.
  • Expect Niklas Backstrom to wear the Wild’s third jersey as he is the likely starter tonight.

  • Cam Ward will make his eighth straight appearance according to Chip Alexander of Canes Now.  Click here to read the full entry.
  • The Peter Budaj watch continues.  The Denver Post reports here Craig Anderson will make his ninth straight start against Minnesota tonight. 

UPDATED 10/21/2009 @ 12:09 PM:

  • The official Bruins twitter mentions that Tim Thomas was the first goalie off the ice, indicating he will make the start tonight.   Click here to follow.

  • A feature article in the Vancouve Sun implies that Roberto Luongo will get the start against Chicago.  Click here for the full story, very interesting read.
  • Chip Alexander tweets here that Dwayne Roloson will start for the Islanders tonight. 
  • Ryan Miller is expected back in net after getting last game off.  The Sports Network confirms this here.

  • No word as of yet who will start in Nashville, per John Glennon’s entry here.  He does mention Dan Ellis as the first goalie off the ice, indicating he will get the start. 
  • Fluto Shinzawa projects Tim Thomas here

  • Mike Heika reports here that Marty Turco will start against Anaheim tonight.   Alex Auld will start either Thursday or Saturday.
  • As expected Antti Niemi will start tonight, per Chris Kuc of Tribune Icing.  Click here to read the full entry.
  • Eric Stephens of Ducks blog writes here that Jean-Sebastien Giguere was injured during practice, making Jonas Hiller the de-facto starter.
  • On Frozen Pond reports here that Scott Clemmensen will make his second straight appearance for Florida.
