After a hectic and worrisome summer, the Phoenix Coyotes came into the 2009-2010 season completely revamped. With a new coach, Dave Tippett, and a new owner, the Coyotes have remodeled their roster, acquiring fourteen of its 25 players in the year 2009.
The new roster has proven to be a successful change, as the Coyotes with 45 games played sit fourth in the Western Conference with 26 wins, and 56 points. They are on pace to shatter the Phoenix Coyotes franchise record, of 95 points (achieved in the 2001-2002 season)*, with a total of 106 points. If the Coyotes want to establish the Coyotes fan support in Arizona, they will need to make the playoffs—and ideally, win the first round. Through half the season, the Coyotes have proven they are a new, rejuvenated team (average age of team is 27.8 years) that can win.
Though attendance has not been outstanding this season at Jobing.com Arena, the Coyotes have posted a great home record (16-6-1), and fared decently on the road (10-8-3). Hopefully the days of 5,000 fans in attendance are gone, as they will need the support to continue winning.
Though the Coyotes dropped their home opener to the Columbus Blue Jackets (2-0), bringing back the White-Out showed how great the momentum and energy can feel when the Coyotes play in front of a nearly sell-out crowd.

Here are your expected starting goalies for tonight, January 6, 2010:
- A couple of teams coming off back-to-back nights. Marty Turco and Niklas Backstrom should be in nets considering their backups played last night. I told think the situation is as cut and dry in Calgary or Toronto, so I will keep you posted on those decisions. In addition, the Rangers, Blues and Flyers play the first of back-to-back games, so it will be interesting to see who they choose to start on which nights. (H/T to Joe English for the Turco decision)
- Michael Leighton confirmed by The Official Twitter Page of the Philadelphia Flyers.

In this section, I break down the top three fantasy hockey performers every night and cite why I chose them in particular. In addition, I will track the amount of times the players have received this honor and tally them at the end of the season. For the sake of clarity, I will be using Yahoo! standard categories (Forwards – G,A,+/-, PP, PIM, SOG; Goalies – W, GAA, SV%, SHO) and thus exclude player’s salaries.
Only four games and eight teams in action following an exciting night in hockey. Of the four games, it was the first contest which we derived all of our stars for the night. Here are our standout fantasy stars for the evening:
THIRD STAR: Arron Asham, Philadelphia Flyers (0-0-1) – Asham helped his team keep the game close, playing his part in half of the Flyers scoring this Sunday. The rugged winger scored a goal and assisted on one by Darroll Powe helping the team tie the game before their eventual fall to the Senators 7-4. Not usually known for his scoring prowess, the 31-year-old added two penalty minutes, one shot and a plus one giving him contributions across five categories.

Please remember to keep refreshing this page or follow me on Twitter for the fastest updates. Here are your expected starting goalies for tonight:
- No lineup changes for the Senators, implying Pascal Leclaire gets the nod in goal writes the Official Twitter Page of the Ottawa Senators.
- Seth Rorabaugh’s Empty Netters puts Tomas Vokoun in nets. Still no confirmation on the Pittsburgh goalie as this game is the second of back-to-back contests.
- Similar story in Chicago as both the Blackhawks and the Ducks played last night. If past history is any indicator it will be Antti Niemi against Jean-Sebastien Giguere, but I will confirmed later with links hopefully.
- Should have the starters for the Buffalo vs. Montreal as well as the Flyers goalie up shortly.
